What you can expect of Healing Hooves for supervision

Healing Hooves provides a supportive environment for practicum students and MFT and CPC licensed interns to learn and practice Equine Facilitated Therapy utilizing the EAGALA model of therapy. This experiential model includes components of models such as Humanistic/Person-Centered, Solution Focused, Narrative, Collaborative and Symbolic Modeling. Healing Hooves also incorporates the IFS model in our equine program. The skills that practicum students and interns learn through the Eagala model in the arena are applicable to in office therapy.
Healing Hooves will provide an environment in which practicum students and interns can learn therapeutic skills that can be used in the arena and in the office while exploring and developing their therapeutic style. Practicum students and interns will discuss with their supervisor therapeutic approaches, interventions, ethical issues, and legal issues. During supervision, using equine assisted learning, practicum students and interns will be able to role-play sessions or client interactions that are problematic and receive feedback from their peers and their supervisor.
Healing Hooves is committed to providing practicum students and interns with a place to learn, grow and explore different therapeutic models while identifying their own therapeutic modality. Healing Hooves believes that self-growth of our clients and therapists requires an ability to evaluate their own progress objectively and subjectively. Healing Hooves provides opportunities for practicum students and interns to acquire skills to become ethical and competent therapists to meet the needs of our diverse community.

What we expect of our practicum students and interns:

To provide quality care for our clients, we expect our practicum students and interns to commit to two consecutive semesters at Healing Hooves.
To assure that our practicum students and interns are engaging in ethical behaviors, we expect that our practicum students and interns read and are familiar with AAMFT Ethics Guidelines, Nevada Administrative Code and Nevada Revised Statutes that apply to mental health professionals.
As practicum students and interns are encouraged to grow, they are expected to self-evaluate and with their supervisor develop a plan for continued growth.
Healing Hooves provides in office and in the arena therapy utilizing the Eagala Model of therapy therefore our Practicum Students and Interns are expected to attend at least 2 Southern Nevada Eagala Networking Meetings and attend trainings for the Eagala Model which are held at Healing Hooves.
